Hello all! Just have a question about a lab I am doing for chemistry. So, I am doing my lab report and for the discussion section I am of course explaining some of the errors that occurred and how I could improve them. I remember my TA saying that one of the errors you could talk about (if it occurred) is the smudging of the ions on the chromatography paper after being put in an ammonia chamber. Now, I am not sure as to how this is an error (i.e what is going on to cause this) nor do I know how to improve that (obviously as I don’t even know the error to begin with). If someone could address as to why the ions might smudge while doing a chromatography experiment, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!  :)
